Welcome To Pleasant View Elementary

The beginning of the school year has been busy for the students and staff of Pleasant View.  Everyone has been focused on starting the year off successfully and making school a priority.  Staff, students, and parents are motivated and excited about all the concepts that will be learned.

There are many new things planned for Pleasant View this school year.  The students will be introduced to data folders and will set academic goals.  In addition, many efforts will be devoted to working with our English Learners in order to help them further develop the skills needed to be successful on state tests as well as becoming reclassified.

In August, the STAR scores were published through the California Department of Education.  During the past few years, Pleasant View has made upward progress.  This continues to be the trend.  The scores increased by 12 API points, however, Pleasant View only met 16 out of 21 AYP Targets.  We continue remain in program improvement status.  With this in mind, the staff is very determined to challenge students to make academic progress.  We have set high expectations for student achievement and it will take a united team of students, parents, and staff working together to be successful.

It is extremely important for parents to ensure their child is at school every day and on time and prepared to learn.  Students should go to bed early and have a good breakfast to be energized to learn.

One of my main goals this school year continues to be establishing a culture of universal achievement by setting high expectations for students and staff, providing a safe, nurturing,  and orderly environment, develop partnerships with parents, instituting a college bound culture, and accepting “no excuses” for failure.

I have an open door policy.  Parents, students, and staff are always welcomed.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (626) 962-8512.

Have a wonderful year!

Mrs. Ortega
